What is Epikaizo and how can a Christian experience it?
What is Epikaizo?
Epikaizo (overshadow) is a Hebrew word used in the Bible to talk of the highest manifestation of God’s power. This is when God’s presence overwhelms (overshadows, overtakes) man and causes the physical faculties of man to lose their earthly essence and take upon the form of the Spirit.
-
Epikaizo occurs when the natural is quickened by the concentration of God’s power to materialize into the supernatural.
-
Moses experienced the Epikaizo when he spent 40 days 40 nights on the mount.
What can I do to experience Epikaizo?
-
The key to Epikaizo is Revelation – Go for the Word!
1 Peter 1:13
‘‘Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;’’
King James Version
Whether you are meditating more in His word, studying to know Him more personally, praying in other tongues, associating with those in the Epikaizo experience, confessing the promises of God or fasting and prayer, the master key is revelation. Revelation gives birth to a relationship and relationship gives birth to experience.
When Abraham saw God as Jehovah Jireh in that He believed that even if he offered Isaac as a burnt sacrifice, God was faithful and able to bring Him back to life. That is, provide another Isaac. God manifested Himself as Jireh (the Lord, My provider).
So, if you see God as the healer, you will know Him as the healer; if you see Him as the sanctifier, you will experience Him as the sanctifier.
Be transformed by the renewal of your mind!
Romans 12:2
‘‘And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.’’
Ephesians 3:9
‘‘And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: ‘’
Colosians 1:27
‘‘26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:’’
King James Version
God’s glory simply put, is the revelation of his nature and attributes. When you grasp the revelation of Christ by consistently growing in your knowledge of the person and principles of Christ, Epikaizo becomes a by-product of your fellowship with the Lord.
To communion or fellowship with the Lord means to come into common union with Christ; to share everything mutually to the point where it becomes difficult to distinguish between you and God. It is a level of mutual exchange where God takes more of your weaknesses and gives you more of His strength; where He takes away your sinfulness and freely imparts you with His righteousness because of His eternal and unconditional love for you.
In other words, this is the working of grace (mercy and unmerited favor) in a man where all that is of the sinful nature of man, be it sin, frailties or whatever (past, present and future) are checked into Christ’s account and all that belongs to Christ is checked into your account.
1 John 1:3-7
‘‘ 3That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.’’
King James Version
The main purpose of salvation is for every believer to come into fellowship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. What a privilege?
1 Corinthians 1:9
‘‘God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.’’
King James Version
