Long stretch
Giving yourself to long stretch of time praying in tongues will be a vital key to tapping the miraculous and moving in the glory of God. Heed the words of John G Lake when he said, ‘I want to talk with the utmost frankness and say to you, that tongues have been the making of my ministry. It is that peculiar communication with God when God reveals to my soul the truth I utter to you day by day in the ministry… Many times, I climb out of bed, take my pencil and pad, and jot down the beautiful things of God, the wonderful things of God that He talks out in my spirit and reveals to my heart.’
It is impossible for you to give yourself to long stretch of hours praying in the Spirit and for your ministry to remain the same. Giving yourself to long stretch of time praying in tongues will add to the weight of glory that you can carry and impart in people’s lives. If you are empty you cannot impart people. Now you can understand why Paul said to the Romans, ‘For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established.’ (Romans 1:11). To impart means to transmit and communicate something tangible from one’s inner man to another’s inner or outer man. This is where praying in tongues take center stage. That is the reason why Paul was thankful that he prayed in tongues more than anyone among his contemporaries.
Giving yourself to long stretch of time praying in tongues will add to the weight of glory that you can carry and impart in people’s lives.
Praying in tongues
Moses spoke to God face to face (Exodus 33:11) and when he came down from the mountain his face shone with the glory of God. Paul said that when we pray in tongues we are speaking directly to God. Therefore tongues is a face to face encounter with God. Tongues is your access to the glory of God. If you want to be a heavyweight in the spirit like the apostle Paul and Moses it is imperative that you dedicate yourself to a life of praying in tongues. You cannot go beyond your level of your prayer life. I have spent thousands of hours since I was fourteen praying in the spirit. I know the virtues and values it will add to your life. It is like your GPS guiding you to your destination. I have prayed for the unknown and for my destiny for hours in tongues. I can safely tell you that my life has been the better for it.
